From serving lunch to hundreds of students at Albury Public School to helping bring Outside Broadcasts to life on weekends for local radio stations Triple M and Hit FM, no two days are ever quite the same for Donna.

As a canteen owner-operator, radio promotions and brand experience assistant, loving wife and proud mum, life is always busy. Donna and her family have enjoyed plenty of adventures over the years, from Bendigo to the Gold Coast and back south again, with the Border region proudly becoming our home over the past five years.

While singing was a small part of my childhood, I haven't picked up a microphone to perform in many years, so taking part in On Key For Kids is both a personal challenge and an exciting trip down memory lane. Nominated by my husband Al, and supported every step of the way by our children Jackson and Sophie, as well as the wonderful kids at school, I didn't hesitate when the opportunity arose to be involved this year.

The reason this event means so much to me is deeply personal. In 2022, our world was turned upside down when our son was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour that also triggered focal seizures. What followed were countless trips away from home, specialist appointments and long periods of uncertainty. The financial strain, time away from work, pressure on our marriage and the impact on our daughter, who wasn't old enough to understand what was happening, were challenges we faced as a family every day.

When our son underwent brain surgery over Christmas that year, I needed to take several weeks off work to be by his side. Having moved to Albury only six months before his diagnosis, we weren't aware that Country Hope existed. Looking back, the support they provide would have made an enormous difference to our family during one of the toughest times of our lives.

That's why I'm proud to be part of On Key For Kids. I want to help raise awareness of the incredible work Country Hope does, so that other families facing similar circumstances know where to turn for support and don't have to navigate those challenges alone. If sharing my story and stepping onto the stage can help even one family find the support they need, it will be worth every moment.
